Nach einem Luftangriff im Dezember 1943 brannte die Kirche aus, ein erneuter Angriff 1944
verursachte starke Zerstörungen am Mauerwerk. Nach anfänglichen Wiederaufbauplänen wurden die
Ruine des Kirchenschiffs am 19. Februar 1949 und der Kirchturm am 9. Mai 1963 gesprengt.
