PIXPAST – Archive of World War II Color Photographs

PIXPAST is a unique archive of rare original World War II color photographs, including Agfacolor and Kodachrome slides taken by German and American soldiers between 1936 and 1945. The collection was built over more than 25 years by Irish-born photo historian and collector Ian S. Spring, who has dedicated his time and personal resources to preserving these remarkable historical color images.

Today the PIXPAST archive contains more than 34,000 original color slides documenting soldiers, aircraft, military vehicles, and everyday life during the Second World War. Through this collection Ian S. Spring hopes to preserve these fragile historical photographs for future generations, so that we can remember our shared human history, learn from the past, and ensure that the mistakes of history are not repeated.
