I have seen these types of threads on other forums and think it would a great idea here for PixPast.

Show yours.

Now this is my sort of topic! I keep holding back from going crazy here Mike cause I'm saving most of my photos for my book. I can't resist though so will post one or two now.
Paul
Boy what I wouldn't do to own that piece. Wonder if it made it back to the states. The back is marked Italy, 1944 with the names of the GIs.

This is a very cool idea for a topic on pixpast.
talking about liberated equipment. this is a private color slide taken by a german infantry officer of a russian POW in russia with his russian maschine gun... im guessing he took the ammunition out before he asked the man to pose with his gun ??
enjoy.

sadly the story is well gone with this color slide.
I bought it a few years ago on ebay, misplaced and sold to me for 50 euros ( the buyer had zero interest in them ). for over 60 original color slides from the russian front... :o :D :D

Great shot Michael.

Lots! Looks like my guy was in a ground support role as there are a number of plane images. They are in a binder so can't look at them so I am just pulling and scanning. I will start another thread in the proper forum very soon.

And I looked again more closely and noticed the rusty FG 42 assault rifle at the feet of the vets. I am seriously drooling now. May I have permission to use that one for my book? Wonder what the story is? Ju 52 wreck? All of the helmets looked rusted.

could the crashed Junkers have been carrying german paratroopers near the wars end, and the GIs just found it all burned up with the guys and there equipment still in the wreckage. the weapons and helmets look like they were under extreme heat ?

Ian, I have the benefit of seeing all the images and I think these were taken at a German airfield that was in use by the US forces. It could be that the FJ's were in a downed JU52 but more likely seeing the photos were in defensive posture at the airfield.
Not the "lock bar" on rudder in the last photo. I wonder if that Tante Ju was towed in flight by another Ju52..
